Post compatibility GBAcceleratorDS and flash storage devices
I recently modded my Nintendo DS lite with x1.7 overclocking.

And I noticed that when using the mod with my M3 flash storage device the Nintendo freezes when it is accessing the flash card.
Also I noticed that with some original games cardridges the nintendo freezes if they are trying to store savegames.

I think that this is a problem with flash memory in these devices.
So I think it would be helpful to create a list of flash memory cards which are working with overclocking and which aren't.

So for my part: the Sandisk 2GB microSD ain't working with overclocking at all.

My M3 DS Simply with 1GB Kingston Micro-SD has been working okay, even saving games at the faster speeds.

Sorry, when you say you Moded with over clocking at 1.7x i am assuming you mean you used Kitora12's chip...if that is the case i am not sure answers here will help.

I mean, stop me if i am wrong but if its not a GBAccelerator chip will tests here have any baring on your results?

Yes it is Kitora12s speedmod, but it is simply another (higher rated) clock generator which replaces the old original one.
GBAccelerator is doing exactly the same but with more different clock generators and a fancy chip to switch beween them. At least thats what I think.

I asked support if there are problems with some flash cards and they said yes. So I though it would be nice to get a list of working and non working flash cards ....

The Kitora12 mod adds a ceramic oscillator in conjunction with the existing crystal to generate speeds of about 1.7x.

The GBAccelerator completely replaces the crystal and associated capacitors/resistors with a PLL clock generator that can be switched to different frequencies (without having to power the DS off/on).

They both technically do the same thing, but in a different way. The DS just knows that the clock signal it's seeing is faster or slower.

OK, this might be correct, but the card in the DS slot gets its clock from the ARM core. And the ARM core will provide a higher peripheral clock to the DS card slot. So the DS cardridge will be overclocked. And if this is true It does not really matter how the DS is overclocked, right?

So a list about working cards might be helpfull? :D

A compatibility list would absolutely be helpful. We've started one here:

Whenever anyone tries something they can post it in that thread, and eventually it will get compiled into a master list.

Higher Rated than the original or Higher rated than the GBAA? link please. Personally i like the idea off not Turning off the DS and also 4 speeds rather than two or one.

I do think a list of working flash cards is of the utmost importance as well, even a list of how they don't work. After all the homebrew community are the most likely to need/use the overclocking abilities and also most likely to mod the system.

@Scott - you say your M3 has been working fine. What do you use it for mostly? Game backups or home brew? I think as you have the most experienced with this chip of those of us here so your information is invaluable to these forums and as such i for one would like to hear more.

I'm guessing he meant higher rated than stock DS speed, since the GBAccelerator DS is a little faster than what Kitora12 did (1.8x vs 1.7x). Although you could probably do 1.8x with his method if you wanted too.

Game backups mostly (it's handy to not have to take all your game cartridges on an airplane). I know there are others on this board that are way more into homebrew type stuff than I am, so hopefully they will keep us updated as they test stuff. I will post more test results soon too.
