Post Compatibiliy List
I would like to see a compatibility list for GBA accelerator if any one is interested in making one.

Something like

Software-------------------.66 x-------1.4 x------1.8 x

Opera-----------------------no---------yes---------no
Mario Cart-----------------yes---------yes--------yes
Castlevania:PoR----------Chopy------yes---------no
Doom:DS------------------yes---------yes------Corupts

Maybe even a Sticked list that could be added to as we get more info.
Incedentaly i have not at this time done the mod so this list is fake.

If anybody has tested anything go ahead and put it in this thread. I'll compile everything into a master list later.

I'll start:

Mario Kart DS
.66x OK
1.4x OK
1.8x OK

Yep.

DS Browser:
.66x OK
1.4x OK
1.8x Worked, but not reliably. Would get screen glitches and dropped connections after a while.

You can speed up Opera, just not all the way to 1.8x.

Thanks for setting this up.

I haven't done much testing with commercial games but can offer the following:

Zelda Phantom Hourglass
.66x OK
1.4x OK
1.8x OK

In addition, the wifi connection test passes at all speeds.

BrainAge2 is also fine at all speeds.

Slot-1 FLASH

My M3 DS Real works only at 1x. At all other speeds it freezes up immediately. This affects the built in menu system. I've tried with Kingston 1GB (Japan) as SD card, and another 2G card. Same problem.

However, it IS possible to load a hombrew .nds and then switch speeds. So long as the program does not require access to the flash card, these seem to accelerate without any problem. However, DLDI access (e.g libfat) does not work at speeds other than 1x. So the problem indeed seems to be the reading/writing to the flash memory on the card. Once everything is in the DS main RAM, acceleration is a go.

So, DSLinux, relying heavily on filesystem (i.e. flash card) access does not accelerate so well, and shows DLDI and file system errors.

**I would be very interested to know if there's a slot-1 card that doesn't have these problems. Scott, the M3 Simply is ok?**

GBA-Slot RAM

I have a rumble ram pack and this appears to work with no problem under acceleration.

I got an R4-Revolution (its the same like an M3 DS Simply).
It works with my x1.7 mod and an Kingston 1 GB microSD card (japanese). I didnt test the Sandisk yet.

My M3DS Real doesn't work with x1.7 and Kingston or Sandisk.

So it seems also to be a matter of the backup device.

I tested some original cardridges with x1.7, nearly all seems to support the x1.7

ChildrenOfMana: works
SuperMario DS: works (its much nicer :D )
Castlevania: works
Another code: works, but no speedup
Bomberman: problems when saving
AdvanceWars DualStrike: works

Post M3DS Simply...Good
Hi,

An update. I just got an M3 DS Simply, and it works at all speeds, as several others have pointed out.

DSLinux works at accelerated speeds (Using the M3 Rumble Ram Pack, which works just fine with DS Simply).

I had done some extensive testing with GBAccelerator (GBA not DS) and from what I saw it looked like most (if not all) original gamepaks would work at every speed (playing and saving). But some development carts would have issues when running at the higher speeds due to the quality of the memory in the carts. I'll get my test data together so I can post it here as well.

This is a great idea though, a community driven compatibilty list for GBAccelerator. We should be able to test nearly all brands fairly quickly with everyone's help. Thanks for everyone's feedback!

I am also planning to provide professional installations of the GBAccelerator and GBAccelerator DS for those uncomfortable with opening their DS. (And I'll offer a warranty so no worries about voiding Nintendo's. I've already installed a number of these with absolutely no problems at all.) My website will be open soon. Stay tuned... :)
